The Parent Council is a group of parent volunteers who are dedicated to the mission of Catholic Memorial. All activities sponsored by the Parent Council are designed to help develop a strong community of families who are actively seeking ways of helping our students. The Parent Council is made up of committees that fulfill certain needs within our school community, i.e., Hospitality Committee, Communications Committee, Social Committee, Fundraising Committee, Homeroom Contact Committee, and Technology Committee (a more detailed description of each of these committees is listed below). Over the years, we have had over two hundred volunteers per year for the Parent Council—an indication of how committed CM parents are to the school’s mission. For this we are most grateful.
The Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee is made up of a dedicated group of volunteers who serve refreshments at different school functions. Some of the functions that the Hospitality Committee coordinate are: Open House, Information Nights, Awards Nights, Deceased Alumni Mass, and Faculty Luncheon. It’s a great way to get involved with the CM community and, at the same time, an opportunity to meet some really wonderful people.
The Social Committee
The Social Committee plans events throughout the year designed to bring parents together in a social atmosphere to help foster the community spirit that is so much a part of the CM experience. Some of the functions sponsored by this committee are: Christmas Wreath Social, Christmas Breakfast, Fall Fashion Show, and the Mardi Gras Dinner Dance.
Communications Committee
The primary form of communication for the Parents’ Council is through Knightline, the Parents’ Council Newsletter. Knightline is mailed home several times a year to keep parents updated on major school functions. It also contains articles of parental interest and faculty profiles.
Homeroom Contact Committee
The homeroom parents have setup a phone chain to contact all of our parents for important events, or emergencies. Homeroom parents are an integral part to our mission in keeping the lines of communication open. It does not require a lot of time and in most cases you will have helpers (other parents) for each homeroom.
Fundraising Committee
This committee conducts the annual Christmas Raffle. Further, members of the committee are always looking for different ways to help our families defray the cost of tuition by increasing their fundraising efforts.
Technology Committee
This committee meets regularly to help faculty and students better use the technology available to them. They also serve in an advisory capacity to the administration to help the school implement its Technology Plan.
