CM Bests KP For Third Super Bowl In Four Years

Three times the Catholic Memorial Knights have faced the King Philip Warriors for the MIAA Division 2 Super Bowl, and three times it was the CM senior captains who went to midfield at Gillette Stadium to receive the Harry Agganis Trophy.

Behind an explosive two-headed running attack led by Mekhi Dodd ‘25 and Lesean Sharp ‘25, CM ran their way to a 39-21 over KP to earn their third title in four years.

Dodd and Sharp ran all over the King Philip defense for a combined 317 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns, with the first touchdown occurring on the first play of the game: a 65-yard run from Sharp.

Sharp led the team in rushing with 148 yards and had the two longest runs for the CM. In addition to the opening touchdown, he broke away for a 50-yard run late in the third quarter that led to a nine-yard touchdown by Dodd to start the fourth quarter. Sharp also scored on a 10-yard run late in the fourth quarter, that all but locked up the game for CM.

Dodd wasn’t far behind, picking up 129 yards on the ground and 37 through the air. Up 14-8 late in the first half and facing fourth down, quarterback Kise Flannery ‘26 scrambled to find Dodd for a 37-yard touchdown run, his first of three scores during the game. Dodd also scored on a three-yard run in the third quarter to extend the CM lead to 26-8.

On the other side of the ball, Jackson Tucker ‘27 had two pass deflections, while Jaiden Johnson ‘27 and Orion Fernandez ‘27 both had a pass deflection at the end of the first half. With KP on the CM 15-yard line with seven seconds left in the first half, Fernandez broke up a touchdown in the far corner of the end zone that would have shifted momentum back to KP. On the next play, KP went back to the same spot, but this time it was Tucker who forced the receiver out of bounds to deny KP a touchdown.

Tucker also put the brakes on a late third-quarter KP drive, breaking up a long pass on fourth down to give the ball back to the CM offense.

Mac Fitzgerald ‘26 had a sack and Chris Sanchez ‘26 had a fumble recovery.

CM ends the season with a record of 12-1. Since 2021, the team is 49-4.
