Football Is Upon Us

Coming off the heels of another Catholic Conference championship season, the Catholic Memorial football team is looking to do one better in 2024 by returning to Gillette Stadium and winning their third Super Bowl in four seasons.

There will be plenty of new faces including starting quarterback Kise Flannery ‘26. The dual-threat quarterback brings with him a skill set that will complement the Knights’ speed-heavy offense.

Mekhi Dodd ‘25 returns at running back following an ACL injury that ended his junior campaign less than a minute into the second game of the 2023 season. Through two scrimmages, the Boston College commit hasn’t shown a decrease in speed and appears to be stronger than in past years.

Caleb Garrity ‘26 and Isaiah Faublas ‘26 are back at wide receiver and are expected to be two of the quickest receivers in the Catholic Conference. The receiver group is rounded out by Gavin Brown ’25, University of Pennsylvania commit and tight end Michael Hegarty ’25, and slot receiver Amar Skeete ’27.

J.D. Rayner ‘25, a James Madison University commit, joins the offensive line as a right tackle. Formerly a defensive tackle, he is part of the rebuilding of a line that lost the majority of its starters due to graduation. Jack Holland ‘25, Marc Antunes ‘26, Charlie Mahoney ‘25, and Timmy Rowan ‘25 round out the starting line.

On defense, many of the underclassmen in the secondary are expected to take a step up, while the linebackers are led by an experienced group of seniors. Jackson Tucker ‘27, Jaiden Johnson ‘27, and Chris Sanchez ‘26 round out the defensive backs while the linebackers consist of Carson Eutsay ‘25, D.J. Overall ‘25, and David Timson ‘25.

Boston College commit Mac Fitzgerald ’26 joins the team as a defensive end and Prince Njontu ‘25 is also expected to be a contributor for the defensive line.

Also joining the team is Morgan Lenehan ‘25. The senior impressed coaches as the kicker for the rugby team and is expected to take over field goal and extra point duties for the Knights.

The team’s regular season begins at home on September 7 against the defending New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association champions, Cardinal Hayes High School from the Bronx. Tickets are available on GoFan for $5. Admission is free for CM students.
